Michelle Goodwine Lawson...Maverick entrepreneur, leader, and educator.Before telling you who I am, I must first tell you whose I am. I am proud to proclaim that I am a Christian. I thank God "from whom all blessings flow." My love of God and my savior Jesus shapes who I am as a person, consultant, and business owner. As a professional, I am concerned about finding the most effective solutions to a dilemma. Achieving these results, I believe, often takes the courage to "go against the grain" and do what is right, rather than what is easiest or popular. Because of my approach, I am often referred to as a "maverick". I am willing to make decisions that are "outside of the box" of conventional thinking. I am the proud mother of my daughter, Ronelle and 7 stepchildren, Ronald, Richard, LaRonna, Sasha, Sheila, A'Niya, and Ronnie.EntrepreneurCurrently I am the CEO and Founder of Maverick HR Consulting, a human resources consulting firm specializing in diversity services, and Goodwine Multimedia Marketing, a firm that specializes in combining traditional and online marketing strategies.Started first business at the age of 9. It was a cake decorating business.Over twenty years of human resources/diversity and marketing experience gained while working in the higher education, public, and private sectors. LeaderMore than 20 years experience as a human resources/diversity and marketing professional.Held several leadership roles in organizations, including serving as Vice President of Administration and Human Resources, Director of Cultural Enrichment and Diversity, and Business Development and Marketing Manager.Has served on several nonprofit and professional organization Boards, including Girls Incorporated of the Capital Region (Chair, Marketing Committee), the Black Data Processing Association (Chapter President), New York State Training and Development Council, and the Alliance of Technology and Women (Co-Chair, Mentoring Committee).EducatorTrained thousands in the areas of human resources, recruitment, customer service, management, marketing strategies, and personal development. Made professional presentations and keynote speeches at over 20 conferences and seminars hosted by such organizations as the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce Women’'s Business and Small Business Councils, the Consulting Alliance, the Capital Region Human Resources Association, American Society for Public Administration, the New York Association of Medical Schools and the Human Resources Association of New York. Started teaching as an adjunct college instructor in 1992. Since that time I have taught business, human resource management, marketing, and ethics courses at several colleges and universities, including Seton Hall University, Sage Graduate School, the College of Saint Rose, Empire State College, Excelsior College, Hudson Valley Community College, and Schenectady County Community College. Has a Masters of Public Administration degree with a concentration in Human Resources Management from the State University of New York at Albany’'s (SUNYA) Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Administration. Graduated magna cum laude from Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Golden Key National Honor Society.
